The world's leading private security organization, G4S, has an immediate job opportunity for a Security Specialist. As a Security Specialist, you will provide guidance and leadership to subordinate personnel, performs random security patrols and services at the sites. You may supervise a shift and act as a relief to the manager during off hours or for limited absences and conduct roving patrols and incident responses in complex facilities, monitor and use intrusion detection, CCTV, and Fire Life Safety Systems. You will direct others in a variety of emergency situations. You may also perform lost and found duties and other basic security duties.

Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Provide guidance to subordinate officers and who has the combination of good judgment, experience and training to be able to respond to a variety of incidents and act in a quasi-supervisory or lead role when required
  • Act as initial incident commander on nights and weekends and would therefore require the ability to direct others in a variety of emergency situations and would require an understanding of the site Emergency Response Plan
  • Monitor and report violations of criminal statutes as authorized by the governing jurisdiction
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant policies and procedures
  • Provide protection of building occupants, protection of real and personal property
  • Maintain civil order, especially during facility emergency conditions
  • Report writing and site patrol duties
  • Monitor and use Intrusion Detection, CCTV and Fire Life Safety Systems
  • Lost and found duties and other basic security duties

The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to pass any State-required training or other qualifications for licensing

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • Must possess documented training and work experience as a supervisor
  • Must have one or more of the following:
    • Associate's degree or higher in any discipline
    • Service in the active duty military, military reserve or National Guard
    • Service in auxiliary police or cadets
    • Meaningful and verifiable work history
    • Minimum of one year verifiable and successful security experience

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Active listening skills
  • Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively
  • Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately
  • Attention to detail

Other

  • Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the state, if higher
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Must not use illegal drugs. Must be able to pass a drug test with negative results (except when undergoing documented medical treatment).
  • Must submit to an extensive background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications, and Department of Motor Vehicle and credit checks if applicable
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military
