The world's leading private security organization, G4S, has an immediate job opportunity for a Dispatcher. As a Dispatcher, you will acknowledge and dispatch for alarms. Dispatchers will handle access control issues, fire and burglar alarm systems while maintaining knowledge of upgrades and changes. Dispatchers will also handle both emergency and non-emergency police and medical requests. Including all documentation of the security personnel activity on site. Dispatchers must determine the proper response to activations as well as determine if systems are operating correctly. Dispatchers must be able to multi-task and perform computer data entry while callers are on the phone or radio.

Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Alarm monitoring and response; sound alarms or call police, fire department or EMS in case of emergency
  • Dispatch security personnel and log their activities in Report Exec management program
  • Access control; direct officers to unlock/lock doors as requested by authorized personnel, maintaining office logs (keys, cards, lockers, lost & found, etc.)
  • Customer service; provide assistance to faculty, students and visitors in a courteous and professional manner
  • Clerical and administrative duties including but not limited to filing, data entry, transferring of phone calls

The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to meet and maintain any applicable State licensing or certification requirements

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • Six (6) months of previous verifiable dispatch experience
  • Must possess one or more of the following:
    • Associate's degree or higher in any discipline
    • Service on the active duty military, military reserves or National Guard
    • Service in auxiliary police or police cadets
    • Meaningful and verifiable work history
    • A minimum of one (1) year verifiable and successful security experience

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Active listening skills
  • Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively
  • Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately
  • Attention to detail

Other

  • Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the state, if higher
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Demonstrated ability to operate computer, radio, telephone equipment and/or console monitors
  • Must not use illegal drugs. Must be able to pass a drug test with negative results (except when undergoing documented medical treatment).
  • Must submit to an extensive background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications, and Department of Motor Vehicle and credit checks if applicable
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military
