Job Introduction:

G4S (Australia) Pty Ltd operates Port Phillip Prison on behalf of the Department of Justice Victoria. The 1000 + bed maximum security men's prison is located at Truganina. The function of G4S is to manage the prison 24/7 and deliver a range of services, programs and activities in an environment that encourages positive behaviour and attitudes leading to self-directed rehabilitation. 

Due to an internal promotion, we have an opportunity for an Assessment Transition Coordinator (ATC) to join the Clinical and Integration Services team. The ATC plays an integral part in the prisoner's pathway to rehabilitation.

Role Responsibility:

  • Coordinating prisoner risk assessments at various stages throughout sentences
  • Working with social workers, clinicians, correctional officers and supervisors as well as multiple external stakeholders to coordinate referrals of prisoners to a variety of programs including; employment, educational, health and wellbeing, housing and accommodation services 
  • Management of relationships with external stakeholders is critical to ensure facilitation and outcomes are delivered 
  • Liaison with Community Correctional Services in relation to parole planning and facilitation of information for prisoners 
  • Regular report writing and management of prisoner case files for internal and external reviews 

The Ideal Candidate:

To be considered for this position you must demonstrate the following skills, experience and qualifications;

  • Qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, or Justice highly regarded 
  • Previous experience working within a correctional environment, justice sector or social services sector
  • Proven experience in external stakeholder management and the ability to ensure outcomes are delivered
  • Knowledge of relevant programs available within the correctional environment as well as services and programs within the community 
  • Strong computer skills and administration skills
  • Experience in preparing and managing files for internal and external audits will also be highly regarded
  • Proven time management skills and the ability to work under pressure
  • Proven ability to work within and contribute to a highly productive team
