Job Introduction:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Security Manager to work within the G4S Events Team working at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Wimbledon.

We are looking for a Security Manager to primarily manage the year round operation on site, assessing key performance indicators and ensuring that service-level agreements are met throughout all activities. This position will report into the Operational Account Manager for the AELTC contract.

Role Responsibility:

  • Providing effective leadership to the security staff, where necessary.
  • Ensuring the maximum number of Event staff are available for the Wimbledon Championships. 
  • Managing and supporting Junior Managers where required, providing adequate guidance,  enabling them to carry out their roles and tasks to the best of their ability
  • Allocating resources to the agreed areas of working.
  • Making sure that the security operation is delivered to the specification of the client.
  • Ensuring that all employees are meeting KPI’s and SLA’s.
  • Meeting with the client on a weekly basis to understand their needs. 
  • Arranging meetings with G4S managers on a weekly basis to ensure the efficient running of the site and allocate tasks where appropriate.  
  • Identifying training needs for all staff on the contract and delivering necessary training on or off site, where appropriate. Updating the training matrix and keep accurate records for all security staff employed on the contract.
  • Carrying out spot checks on staff in relation to their knowledge of the post instructions and other relevant policies and quality assure the given post instructions. 
  • Ensuring operational cover is maintained throughout site rosters and annual leave.
  • Overseeing the completion of the post Instructions and ensure an effective audit trail is in place that can be produced to the client on request.
  • Acting as the focal point for any investigations and provide accurate information to the client. Reporting to the client any security breaches, to carry out investigations and recommend any remedial action required to the client.
  • Being available at all times to deal with any matters in urgent need of escalation or issues that are beyond the capability of the management team on site.
  • Liaising with the Metropolitan Police and other Emergency Services when required.
  • Creating maximum efficiency by liaising with other contractors on site.
  • Dealing with all administration in relation to any disciplinary and welfare processes.
  • Communicating with the Finance Director on a monthly basis to ensure all staff are paid correctly and immediately deal with any pay queries, where necessary.
  • Identifying to the Operational Account Manager any commercial opportunities that may be available.

The Ideal Candidate:

Essential Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience of operational background in the Events delivery business
  • Demonstrable planning and organisational skills
  • Understanding of crowd management and crowd dynamics
  • People management skills including experience in correct HR practices
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • The ability to effectively time manage, plan and prioritise different elements of the workload.
  • Show a level of trust and respect for customers, staff and management
  • Be computer literate with intermediate knowledge of MS Word and Excel
  • 5 years checkable work history
  • Unrestricted right to work in the UK/EU
  • Fluent written and spoken English

Preference will be given to candidates who also meet the following:

Ideal Requirements

  • A basic level of financial awareness
  • Qualifications in Crowd Safety Level 4 (Safety Officer) or Level 5 (Crowd Management Degree)
  • Degree in Events/Hospitality Management
  • SIA Door Supervisors License.
