Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

As a Security Director, you will be responsible for all security operations within the facility, including overseeing on-the-job (OJT) training, fostering positive relationships with mall tenants, analyzing incident data for the mall, preparing weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports, assisting mall management with special events, maintaining mall specific contact information and post orders. Security Director reports to our client's Account Manager.

Additional responsibilities:
  • Provide supervision to security officers and oversight to assistant director
  • Coordinate and oversee staffing, scheduling, and on-site training for security officers
  • Ensure quality of service and contract compliance by regularly inspecting the post and facility assigned to
  • Promote and enforce safety measures
  • Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities; maintain written logs as required by the post
  • Provide assistance to customers, employees and visitors in a courteous and professional manner
  • Conduct performance appraisals and implement and/or recommend progressive disciplinary actions
  • Perform payroll functions and prepare and review client required reporting

Here's the minimum you'll need to be a successful Security Director:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to pass any State-required training or other qualifications for licensing
  • Ability to pass a State licensing test if driving a company-owned or client-provided vehicle

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • You will also need to possess a minimum of two (2) years of prior documented management/supervisory experience in a security environment.

Skills Required

You will need the following skills to be a successful Security Director:
  • Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors
  • Ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Active listening skills
  • Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively
  • Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to mediate conflict with tact, diplomacy
  • Ability to encourage effective teamwork

Other Requirements

  • You must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the State
  • You must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • You must have access to reliable transportation
  • You must be able to work flexible schedules

Finally, here's what we'll need from you upon job offer:

  • You must not use illegal drugs. You must be able to pass a drug test with negative results (except when undergoing documented medical treatment).
  • You must submit to an extensive background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications, and Department of Motor Vehicle and credit checks if applicable
  • Ability to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military
  • Ability to pass the following:
    • MMPI - Psychological testing, if armed or otherwise required
    • Physical exam, if armed or required by client contract

Physical Requirements and Environment

Environment: Office

Major activity: Working on PC and using telephone while sitting

Physical efforts to carry out job duties: Limited, to include some standing, bending, light lifting, and limited stretching and reaching.
