Job Introduction:

G4S Custodial Services Pty Ltd operates Port Phillip Prison on behalf of the Department of Justice and Regulation, Victoria. The 1100+ bed maximum security men's prison is located at Truganina. The function of G4S is to protect the public and manage the prison and deliver a range of services, programs and activities in an environment that encourages positive behaviour and attitudes leading to self-directed rehabilitation and a reduction in reoffending. 

We currently have a number of opportunities for Clinicians at the prison including full time and part time roles.

Role Responsibility:

We currently have a number of opportunities for Clinicians at the prison including full time and part time roles.

Reporting to the Senior Clinician, duties of a Clinician at Port Phillip Prison include;

  • Conducting clinical and forensic screenings and assessments, including structured clinical interviews and psychometric testing
  • Facilitation of group programs targeting criminogenic needs of sentenced serious violent offenders and general offenders 
  • Provision of group based psychoeducational interventions for remand prisoners
  • Provision of individual assessment and counselling to clients who may be distressed, have complex needs and/or mental health issues
  • Participation in planning and evaluation of therapeutic, behavioural and skills based programs
  • Preparation of psychological summaries and reports
  • Consultation with internal and external stakeholders as required

 


The Ideal Candidate:

Working as part of a busy, productive and experienced team, ideally you would possess the following qualifications and experience;

  • Psychologist, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker with experience in a similar environment
  • For Psychologists and Occupational Therapists, Full Registration with AHPRA
  • For Social Workers, Eligibility for Full Registration/Recognition with the Australian Association of Social Workers 
  • Previous experience in forensic psychology is an advantage but not essential 
  • Passion for correctional psychology and the ability to show initiative, creativity and responsibility in a challenging environment
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, including excellent written and report writing skills 
  • Possess high levels of resilience and motivation
  • Advanced time management skills
  • A proven ability to adapt to change, enthusiasm to develop new skills and expertise in order to deliver business objectives
