Improving the lives of workers and ensuring the safety of G4S customers in Mozambique

Security is one industry where the number of male employees far outweighs the number of female employees, inspite of this Rita Graciela Massinga was interested in joining this profession over eighteen years ago.
Massinga joined G4S Security Services in Mozambique in 2008, and is still as passionate about the company three years later as she was the day she joined. “To me, G4S is a great company. In 2008 I joined G4S as a Deputy Inspector and was promoted within my first year to the position of Manager, for the Danúbio area in the city of Maputo – a position I held until March 2011. And was promoted to Manager of the Africa Zone in April.” she says with pride.
“When I first started in this industry I was an ordinary housewife and today I feel a sense of accomplishment because I know how to deal with people in every situation. I have also benefitted from the firearms training provided by G4S, and feel good about being a woman in this industry because I can do everything a man can do.” she smiles.
In additon to the firearms refresher course, Rita Massinga told us that she had recently participated in a combat training programme and attended an HIV/AIDs prevention workshop.
