HR | TUPE – Manchester Magistrates Court – Management support
G4S has considerable experience of transferring workers to the company under the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) (TUPE) regulations.
We offer support and consultation throughout the process to allay any concerns transferring employees may have.
Managing complicated TUPE transitions
We work in partnership with our customers and existing employers to ensure that all parties agree a timetable for consultation. This ensures we are able to meet our legal obligations, but proper planning also helps us make sure that the process is smooth and stress-free for transferring staff, and ensures they feel supported every step of the way.
“I can’t think of any better bosses to be honest with you. They’re approachable, they’re supportive. They want the best out of you, but to get the best out of you they give the best of themselves as well.”
Anne Jones, Cleaning Team Leader
Manchester Magistrates Court
In 2004 G4S won a 25 year contract with HM Court Services to provide integrated hard and soft facilities management services to Manchester Magistrates Court. The contract included the transfer of facilities employees from the Court Service to G4Sunder TUPE regulations.
We think G4S is a great place to work, and we want transferring staff to be enthusiastic about the opportunities on offer.
We take time to introduce transferring staff to G4S, our history, culture and values. We want new employees to feel welcomed into the company. As a service company our people really are our biggest asset, and it is important that they understand and integrate with our service culture and feel part of the team.
“We’re a big team, we’re a big family”
Anne Jones, Cleaning Team Leader
We make sure that staff are kept fully informed throughout the transfer process, and feel fully engaged every step of the way. We know that regular, honest, two-way communication is key to the success of the transfer process, and ensure that we maintain a dialogue with all parties.
“They are very supportive. If there is a problem they’ll deal with it straight, on hand, not a problem, and you couldn’t really ask for any more to be honest. There’s never been an issue of, they’ve not been there, for me, job-wise or personal-wise or anything like that. They’ve been great bosses.”
Samantha Graham, Security Team Leader
Once teams have transferred to G4S we provide a comprehensive, structured induction. This ensures that teams quickly become integrated into the company culture, and gain a thorough understanding of our history, beliefs and processes, while at the same time reinforcing our customers’ culture and requirements
“If you have a problem, or something concerning work, and you need to speak to management, then you get an immediate response.”
Paul Cairns, Porter
If staff have any concerns or issues that we cannot be answered through dialogue with G4S they can access external counselling and assistance through our Employee Assistance Programme. This is an independent and confidential hotline which staff can use to access a range of support and advice.
“They do encourage you to let you know how you’re feeling and try to develop yourself, so they are quite supportive. I feel like if there’s anything that I have a problem with then we can work around that and find solutions.”
Becky Sherlock, Administration Officer
Employee Assistance Programme
Run by an organisation called AXA-ICAS our Employee Assistance Programme is available to all employees and their families. We believe that we should support a member of staff in every possible way we can and know that if they are worried about a matter that affects themselves, a family member or close associate that it may affect their performance at work.
