In the summer of 2010 Chris applied for a position in the G4S Welfare to Work business stream having graduated from Cambridge University. Chris was interviewed and successfully secured a position as a researcher. Chris was involved in researching and contributing to the writing of bid and tender documentation and was aligned to a new business project. As the business area was new Chris’ responsibilities grew and he steadily got more involved in some of the negotiation and contract work associated with the new business opportunity.

The bid was successful and Chris was asked to become part of the mobilisation team to move the project into the operational delivery stage. His contact with a broad range of people from across different functions within G4S meant that he got to hear of opportunities for progression in other parts of the business.

In February 2011 Chris applied for a role within the UK and Ireland Business Development team as a Project Coordinator. Chris was successful in securing this new and exciting role and now gets involved on high profile tender and bid projects with major clients. He interfaces with prospective new clients and ensures that the bid process goes smoothly from all sides. Chris often manages the delivery of material from different parts of the company to ensure the production of a successful bid.

Chris says “As a Graduate I have been given a great deal of opportunity to get involved in high profile and challenging work. My Managers have all supported me and been on hand to give me advice and assistance where needed. They have also given me the space to grow quickly. It says a great deal about an organisation when senior people take time to offer help and guidance to more junior employees”.
